At the 2024 German Armed Forces Day, ATEK eV was represented with its own information stand in Augustdorf. Numerous visitors took the opportunity to learn about our work, our projects, and our commitment to veterans and their families.

We thank everyone for the many interesting conversations, the great interest shown, and the appreciation we received. The exchange with soldiers, their families, and guests has shown us how important our commitment to camaraderie, education, and support continues to be.

Special thanks go to all members and supporters who made this successful day possible through their dedication.

Veteran's Day

June 15th of each year is now Veterans Day.

A sign of recognition, appreciation and respect for veterans and their families.

ATEKeV commemorated this day with a small ritual.

We released balloons with handwritten cards attached to them into the air to draw the attention of the finder(s) to this very important issue. This activity was combined with a prize draw.

The K3 marches

Every year, people in various regions of Germany travel to commemorate the Good Friday battle. This initiative was launched by Pierre Lindholm. On April 2, 2010, the Taliban attacked a German army patrol in Isa Khel in northern Afghanistan. Three soldiers were killed.

Sergeant Major Nils Bruns, Corporal Robert Hartert, Corporal Martin Augustyniak. Several soldiers were seriously injured in the nearly nine-hour battle. Chief Warrant Officer Jason Lacrosse, a US Army pilot, came to the aid of the Germans with his Black Hawk rescue helicopter, recovering the dead and wounded. This, the Bundeswehr's heaviest battle to date, left a lasting impression on many soldiers and veterans.

Since 2023, ATEK eV has organized a marching group each year for interested individuals, tailored to their specific needs regarding pack size and duration. The march always takes place at the Aasee lake in Ibbenbüren, North Rhine-Westphalia. The terrain is barrier-free, flat, and easily accessible, making it particularly suitable for people with disabilities and assistance dogs.

ATEKeV beim 1.Veteranentag Berlin

On June 15, 2025, we were present with our own information booth at the 1st Veterans Day in Berlin. Together with our friends from the Green Devils Military Brotherhood, we were able to have many interesting conversations and present our association's work.

A particular highlight was the open and appreciative conversation with the Deputy Inspector General of the German Armed Forces, Major General Dr. Schilling, who took a lot of time to discuss our concerns and the situation of the families of traumatized veterans.

We thank all visitors for their interest and support. This day was a strong sign of recognition and community for us.

Invitation to a panel discussion at the VHS Münster on the topic

"Serving Germany?" - 70 years of the German Armed Forces: Job or vocation

The perception of the profession of "soldier in the German Armed Forces" has changed dramatically over the past 70 years. This transformation is closely linked to the political, social, and security policy developments in Germany. Currently, public opinion regarding military service appears to fluctuate between pronounced skepticism and pragmatic acceptance. While the German Armed Forces are now recognized as essential for security policy, societal identification with the military profession remains limited—especially compared to other countries with strong military cultures, such as the USA or France. In this panel discussion, we aim to highlight various perspectives from both within and outside the German Armed Forces.

The following will participate in the discussion:

General André Bodemann, Deputy Commander of the Operational Command and Commander of Territorial Tasks

Winfried Nachtwei, German politician and expert on peace and security policy

Captain Maximilian Menke, soldier in the German Armed Forces since 2013

Sandra Thamm, founder of a self-help group for relatives of traumatized veterans and emergency personnel, certified

MHFA (Mental Health First Aider)

November 2025

Yesterday and today I was a guest at the Dr. Leo Löwenstein Barracks and had the honor of accepting a donation check from Training Group B | VIII. In. | Specialist Group ||. This donation will enable the association to strengthen the resilience of family members in dealing with their loved ones' PTSD, for example, through a seminar (stress management).

Thank you so much.

I would also like to say thank you for the great conversations and the pleasant get-together.

I was really pleased.
