Information about ATEKeV

My husband suffered from complex PTSD as a result of his numerous deployments in Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, which presents us with many challenges in our daily lives.

In October 2022, I began writing about my daily dealings with the daily effects of PTSD in the form of an initially anonymous profile on Instagram under the title "Wife of a Combat Veteran."

The enormous support I received from like-minded people quickly showed me that there is no concrete support available from public authorities in this area.

No constant support from the Bundeswehr, no help for relatives in a therapeutic sense and no information whatsoever about what it is like in everyday life to live with a combat veteran who suffers from PTSD.

The many positive responses quickly made it clear to me that there is a great need for help and education.

So I decided to start an online support group for families of veterans and emergency personnel. Initially, I just wanted to offer a peer-to-peer exchange with family members who were all in the same boat, sharing the same experiences, burdens, and worries.

In order to establish a solid foundation for the Wife of a Veteran project and the online support group, I trained to become a certified psychological first aider and a support group leader.

My intention is to help, to support and to let each family member know that they are not alone.

This website is intended to provide information and support to help veterans and emergency personnel better deal with PTSD in their daily lives.

The target group of the project are wives, husbands, relatives, sons and daughters, partners, friends and acquaintances who support traumatized veterans and emergency personnel, whether military, THW, police or rescue service, on a daily basis and share the burdens.
